Jacob Latz
Jacob Latz Rebounds after rocky start
Mon, Mar 2, 2026, 6:23 PM
Latz allowed two runs on three hits and struck out one over three innings in Sunday's spring start against Seattle.
Analysis: Two batters into Latz's second Cactus League start, the Rangers trailed, 2-0, after the left-hander served up a middle-middle slider that Cole Young drove 442 feet over the fence in right field. He allowed another hit in the inning, and then retired eight consecutive batters before calling it a day. Latz threw 41 pitches (26 strikes) and did not walk a batter for the second straight start. He was used mostly as a reliever the last few seasons, but the Rangers are building him as a starter and letting him compete with Kumar Rocker for the final spot in the rotation. Of the two, Latz has performed better thus far in spring action.
Jacob deGrom
Jacob deGrom Making spring debut Wednesday
Mon, Mar 2, 2026, 6:09 PM
DeGrom will make his first spring start in the Rangers' exhibition game against Team Brazil on Wednesday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Analysis: The Rangers have been slowly building deGrom up in spring training, with the veteran right-hander limited to bullpen sessions and live batting practices. He'll take the mound for Wednesday's exhibition contest, and Rangers manager Skip Schumaker told reporters Monday that he expects deGrom to make three or four appearances before the end of camp, per Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News. DeGrom went 12-8 across 30 starts in 2025 with a 2.97 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 185:37 K:BB in 172.2 innings, which were his most frames thrown in a season since 2019 as a member of the Mets.
Richie Martin
Richie Martin Cut by Texas
Mon, Mar 2, 2026, 10:50 AM
The Rangers reassigned Martin to minor-league camp Monday.
Analysis: Martin was attending big-league camp as a non-roster invitee, but after not appearing in the majors since 2022, he was always viewed as a long shot for the Opening Day roster. The 31-year-old infielder is likely to begin the season at Triple-A Round Rock, with whom he slashed .258/.348/.369 with three home runs and 25 stolen bases over 299 plate appearances in 2025.
Corey Seager
Corey Seager Back in action after illness
Mon, Mar 2, 2026, 9:18 AM
Seager (illness) will start at shortstop and bat third in Monday's Cactus League game versus the Guardians.
Analysis: Seager was scratched from the Rangers' lineup Friday and wound up missing a couple additional days of action due to illness, but he's ready to roll for Monday's tilt. The veteran shortstop is 1-for-7 with a 1:2 BB:K in the early going this spring.
Emiliano Teodo
Emiliano Teodo Sent to Triple-A
Mon, Mar 2, 2026, 8:58 AM
The Rangers optioned Teodo (back) to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.
Analysis: Teodo has been slow-played this spring following last season's back issues, as he's been throwing off a mound but has not appeared in a Cactus League game. It's unclear whether he will be ready to go at the beginning of the minor-league season. Teodo made a full-time move to a relief role in 2025 but struggled during his time with Round Rock, holding a 9.00 ERA and 23:17 K:BB over 18 innings. He's got a big arm but has strides to make with his control and durability.
Winston Santos
Winston Santos Optioned to Double-A
Mon, Mar 2, 2026, 8:54 AM
The Rangers optioned Santos (hand) to Double-A Frisco on Monday.
Analysis: Santos was almost surely going to begin the season in the minors regardless, but his fate was sealed when he suffered a fractured left (non-throwing) hand in late February. The injury is expected to sideline him until late March, so he could need a little time to get ramped up before joining the active roster at Frisco.
Jacob deGrom
Jacob deGrom Zeroing in on spring debut
Sun, Mar 1, 2026, 4:57 PM
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said that deGrom threw a 30-pitch side session and will make a Cactus League start "really soon," Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: DeGrom reported to spring training at full health, but the Rangers are deliberately easing the 37-year-old righty into their Cactus League pitching schedule. Schumaker noted that deGrom has been building up through bullpen sessions and live batting practice sessions on the back fields of camp, which has allowed the two-time Cy Young Award winner to stay on pace with the Rangers' other rotation candidates during his spring throwing progression. The skipper expects deGrom to make 3-to-4 appearances in games before the end of camp, which should put deGrom in line to make a start during the Rangers' first series of the season in Philadelphia at the end of the month.
Marc Church
Marc Church Ready for live work
Sun, Mar 1, 2026, 2:06 PM
Church (lat) is slated to throw live bullpen sessions Tuesday and Friday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Church is working his way back from a teres major strain and could be cleared for game action by early next week if he responds well to his upcoming live sessions. The 24-year-old righty has made just six career appearances in the majors, but he boasts one of the more electric arms in the organization and could be a factor in the late innings for the Rangers later in 2026 if he can stay healthy and keep the free passes in check.
Kyle Higashioka
Kyle Higashioka Ready to play Sunday
Sun, Mar 1, 2026, 2:02 PM
Higashioka (back) will start at catcher and bat third in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Mariners.
Analysis: The veteran backstop had been out of the spring lineup for the past four days due to a back issue but appears to be good to go moving forward. Heading into his second season in Texas, Higashioka is likely to be part of a timeshare with Danny Jansen behind the dish.
Brandon Nimmo
Brandon Nimmo Should start playing soon
Sun, Mar 1, 2026, 8:47 AM
Nimmo is on a specific ramp-up plan and will begin playing in Cactus League games in March, Matt Postins of SI.com reports.
Analysis: The slow ramp-up is designed to have Nimmo, who turns 33 later this month, fresh for Opening Day, according to Texas manager Skip Schumaker. Nimmo is expected to bat leadoff for the Rangers, taking the spot in the order that had belonged to Marcus Semien, the player he was traded for in November.
Jack Leiter
Jack Leiter Inefficient start Saturday
Sun, Mar 1, 2026, 8:38 AM
Leiter allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings in Saturday's Cactus League start against the Dodgers.
Analysis: Leiter needed 45 pitches to get those four outs, spread across three different innings. The three up-and-downs were a positive this early in camp, but the right-hander allowed three extra-base hits, including a Dalton Rushing home run in the first inning, and he managed to throw just 24 strikes. Leiter also featured more of the cutter he's been working on during the offseason, delivering seven of them, so the results may be less important than the process in this outing.
Jose Corniell
Jose Corniell Dealing with soreness
Sat, Feb 28, 2026, 10:21 AM
Manager Skip Schumaker said Saturday that Corniell has been dealing with back and tricep soreness this spring, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Corniell's injury has prevented him from getting into a Cactus League game thus far, though Schumaker noted that the young reliever looked good during a side session Thursday. The Rangers will continue to bring him back slowly, though his availability for Opening Day doesn't seem to be a concern at this point.
Justin Foscue
Justin Foscue Dealing with strained hamstring
Sat, Feb 28, 2026, 10:06 AM
Foscue was diagnosed with a strained right hamstring Saturday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Foscue made an early exit from Monday's Cactus League game with a hamstring injury, and imaging confirmed Saturday that he suffered a strain. He'll be shut down from baseball activities for 10 days before the Rangers reevaluate him.
Josh Jung
Josh Jung Diagnosed with Grade 1 strain
Sat, Feb 28, 2026, 10:01 AM
Jung was diagnosed with a Grade 1 adductor strain Saturday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Jung had been expected to resume playing in Cactus League games this weekend, but he will now be shut down for roughly 10 days following the results of his tests. Assuming the Rangers don't receive any more unexpected news, the 28-year-old still could have enough time to make a full recovery before Opening Day.
MacKenzie Gore
MacKenzie Gore Better in second start
Sat, Feb 28, 2026, 9:51 AM
Gore allowed three hits and struck out one over three scoreless innings in Friday's spring start against the White Sox.
Analysis: After allowing two runs and three hits over 1.2 innings in his Cactus League debut, Gore was better his second time out, throwing 38 pitches (27 strikes). The lefty also took a comebacker off his leg but gathered the ball and got the out. Texas trainers paid him a visit, but Gore stayed in the game, per Matt Postins of SI.com. Gore is expected to serve as the third or fourth starter in the Rangers' rotation.
Kyle Higashioka
Kyle Higashioka Day-to-day with back issue
Fri, Feb 27, 2026, 10:57 AM
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said Friday that Higashioka will be out of the lineup until Sunday due to a back injury, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Higashioka turns 36 years old in April and is projected to split catching duties with Danny Jansen this season. Higashioka slashed .241/.291/.403 with 11 home runs, a career-best 47 RBI, 33 runs scored and a 20:72 BB:K across 327 plate appearances last season for Texas.
Josh Jung
Josh Jung Expected back in lineup Sunday
Fri, Feb 27, 2026, 10:52 AM
Jung (hamstring) is expected to return to Cactus League action Sunday against the Mariners, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Jung was initially expected to return to the lineup Friday against the White Sox, but the Rangers are giving him a couple extra days of rest. Luke Hanson is making the start at third base for Texas against Chicago and batting ninth.
Corey Seager
Corey Seager Scratched due to illness
Fri, Feb 27, 2026, 10:47 AM
Seager was scratched from Friday's lineup against the White Sox due to an illness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Manager Skip Schumaker said Seager will be sidelined for at least a couple days. Cameron Cauley is starting at shortstop versus Chicago on Friday.
Kumar Rocker
Kumar Rocker So-so outing Thursday
Fri, Feb 27, 2026, 8:06 AM
Rocker allowed two runs on five hits while striking out one over 2.2 innings in Thursday's spring start against the Brewers. He also hit a batter.
Analysis: There was much to like about Rocker's second Cactus League outing. He threw first-pitch strikes to seven of 13 batters and worked out of trouble in the first two innings. Getting ahead early and more use of his changeup have been areas that manager Skip Schumaker is looking for Rocker to focus on. The manager saw the strike-throwing Thursday, but the right-hander did not throw a changeup. "He's still continuing to try and develop," Schumaker told Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News. "He needs that pitch to be successful. That's why I don't really care so much about the results. We all want to see that changeup." Rocker needs to pitch well during spring training to earn a spot in the rotation, but he also needs more in his arsenal than just a slider and fastball.
Josh Jung
Josh Jung Day-to-day with hamstring tightness
Thu, Feb 26, 2026, 10:44 AM
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said Jung is dealing with "a little something" in his hamstring and is day-to-day, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Schumaker said Jung would likely be back in the lineup for Friday's Cactus League matchup with the White Sox. With Jung idle Thursday, Ezequiel Duran is making the start at third base. Jung appeared in 131 regular-season games last season and slashed .251/.294/.390 with 14 home runs, 61 RBI, 53 runs scored, four stolen bases and a 27:129 BB:K across 511 trips to the plate.
