Declan Cronin
Declan Cronin Inks two-year MiLB deal with Texas
Tue, Oct 7, 2025, 9:39 PM
Cronin (elbow) signed a two-year, minor-league contract with the Rangers on Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Cronin is slated to miss the entire 2026 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery at the end of September, so the Rangers will bring him in on a two-year deal with the hope of having him contribute to the organization in 2027. When healthy, the 28-year-old reliever turned in a 4.91 ERA and 1.64 WHIP across 22 innings at Triple-A in 2025.
Cole Winn
Cole Winn Tracking toward normal offseason
Fri, Oct 3, 2025, 2:43 PM
Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that Winn (shoulder) is expected to have a normal offseason, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Winn landed on the 15-day injured list during the final week of the regular season with a right rotator cuff strain, but he is expected to be fine after some rest. The 25-year-old collected a 1.51 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 41.2 innings out of the Rangers' bullpen in 2025.
Cody Bradford
Cody Bradford Full participant in spring training
Fri, Oct 3, 2025, 2:39 PM
Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that he expects Bradford (elbow) to be a full participant during spring training, but an exact timeline for the pitcher is undetermined, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Bradford underwent an internal brace procedure in late June to repair the UCL in his left elbow. It's a less invasive surgery and comes with a shorter rehab than Tommy John, but it still seems highly unlikely Bradford will be ready for the start of next season. A clearer picture on the southpaw's timetable should be available during spring training.
Jake Burger
Jake Burger Looking at 6-to-8 week recovery
Fri, Oct 3, 2025, 2:31 PM
Burger is expected to require 6-to-8 weeks to recover following surgery Monday to repair a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Burger first injured his wrist in mid-August before returning to play through the issue during the final month of the season. He will be able to begin his normal offseason hitting program following the 6-to-8 week recovery period, setting Burger up to enter spring training without limitations, barring any setbacks.
Marcus Semien
Marcus Semien Expected to have normal offseason
Fri, Oct 3, 2025, 2:28 PM
Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that Semien (foot) is expected to have a normal offseason, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Semien last played in late August due to a fractured third metatarsal and a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot, but he has not encountered any setbacks in his recovery and will not have his offseason training interrupted. The veteran second baseman slashed .230/.305/.364 with 15 home runs and 11 stolen bases over 127 contests in 2025.
Nathan Eovaldi
Nathan Eovaldi Might require sports hernia surgery
Fri, Oct 3, 2025, 2:22 PM
Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that Eovaldi (shoulder) will visit a physician in Phoenix next week to determine whether he will require sports hernia surgery, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Eovaldi's season ended in late August when he was diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain. However, Fenstermaker noted that Eovaldi's shoulder injury is not expected to impact his offseason throwing program. The bigger concern now appears to be Eovadi's groin area, though more will be known about his status moving forward following next week's exam. Eovaldi had a fabulous 2025 campaign, posting a 1.73 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 129:21 K:BB across 130 innings. He's under contract with the Rangers through 2027.
Jake Burger
Jake Burger Headed for wrist surgery
Mon, Sep 29, 2025, 10:19 AM
Burger said after Sunday's 9-8 extra-inning loss to the Guardians that he plans to undergo surgery later this week to repair a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Burger initially sprained the wrist in mid-August and spent about two weeks on the injured list before returning to action for the final month of the season. However, Burger struggled to a .206 average while striking out at a 28.4 percent clip in September, bringing his slash line down to .236/.269/.419 over 103 games during his first campaign in Texas. Burger -- who also required stints on the shelf due to oblique and quadriceps injuries -- had received a cortisone shot to relieve discomfort in his wrist prior to his return from the IL, but he's hopeful that surgery will offer more permanent relief after he felt the tendon "popping" in and out of place over the past few weeks. Burger is under club control through 2028, and despite his disappointing debut season in Texas, he currently projects to head into spring training atop the depth chart at first base.
Patrick Corbin
Patrick Corbin Five Ks in no-decision
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 5:35 PM
Corbin did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 9-8 extra-inning loss, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: The veteran southpaw kept the Cleveland lineup relatively in check during this 90-pitch outing, as he didn't concede an extra-base knock. Corbin gave up two runs on a Johnathan Rodriguez single in the first before being tagged with another run on a Bo Naylor sacrifice fly in the third. The 37-year-old concludes his season with a 4.40 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 131:51 K:BB across 155.1 total frames.
Rowdy Tellez
Rowdy Tellez Two straight absences to close season
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 2:05 PM
Tellez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Tellez will remain absent from the starting nine for the second straight day to close out the season while the Guardians send another southpaw (Logan Allen) to the hill. Jake Burger will start at first base in Tellez's place.
Joc Pederson
Joc Pederson Sitting against southpaw
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 2:04 PM
Pederson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Pederson will remain absent from the starting nine for the second straight day to close out the season while the Guardians send another southpaw (Logan Allen) to the hill. Adolis Garcia will serve as Texas' designated hitter in Pederson's stead.
Jacob Latz
Jacob Latz Strikes out six in no-decision
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 10:15 PM
Latz didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Guardians, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: It was just the eighth start of the season for Latz, who fell one punchout shy of matching his season high. The 29-year-old southpaw didn't see much high-leverage work in 2025 -- he has two holds and one save -- but he was effective as a swingman for the Rangers. Through 85.2 frames, Latz produced a 2.84 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 76:37 K:BB.
Adolis Garcia
Adolis Garcia Belts solo shot in loss
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 10:07 PM
Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Cleveland.
Analysis: Garcia crushed his 19th homer of the year and his first of the month of September. The veteran outfielder has been quite disappointing in 2025 -- his .665 OPS is a career worst, and he's in jeopardy of turning in his first season without 20 homers since becoming a full-time player in 2021. With a poor .227 batting average over 503 at-bats to boot, Garcia might be a tough player to rank in 2026.
Jacob Latz
Jacob Latz Making start Saturday
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 4:53 PM
Latz is slated to start Saturday's game against the Guardians in Cleveland.
Analysis: With the Rangers recently welcoming Tyler Mahle back from the injured list, Latz had shifted to the bullpen following his most recent start Sept. 14 against the Mets. He has since made a pair of relief appearances, but Latz will be back in a starting role as the season winds down while the Rangers having shifted to a six-man rotation since being eliminated from playoff contention. Through 32 appearances (seven starts) on the campaign, Latz has gone 2-0 with a 2.80 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 70:37 K:BB in 80.1 innings.
Jonah Heim
Jonah Heim Sitting down Saturday
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 2:50 PM
Heim isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Guardians.
Analysis: Heim will grab a seat on the bench Saturday after collecting a base hit in each of his last two games. Kyle Higashioka will start behind the plate instead and bat fifth.
Marcus Semien
Marcus Semien Moves to 60-day IL
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 2:42 PM
The Rangers transferred Semien (foot) to the 60-day injured list Saturday.
Analysis: Semien has already been ruled out for the 2025 season due to a fractured third metatarsal and a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot. His move to the 60-day IL will simply act as a way to clear space on the 40-man roster for Dom Hamel, who was claimed off waivers from the Orioles on Saturday.
Dom Hamel
Dom Hamel Claimed by Rangers
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 2:39 PM
The Rangers claimed Hamel off waivers from the Orioles on Saturday and optioned him to the Arizona Complex League.
Analysis: Hamel will join his third organization this month after having previously been waived by the Mets and Orioles. The 26-year-old righty tossed a scoreless inning against the Padres during his MLB debut Sept. 17 but finished the Triple-A season with a 5.32 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 67.2 frames. Marcus Semien (foot) was transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.
Alejandro Osuna
Alejandro Osuna Rare homer in victory
Fri, Sep 26, 2025, 10:03 PM
Osuna went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 7-2 win over Cleveland.
Analysis: It was just the second homer of the year for Osuna, who went deep for the first time since July 1 against Baltimore. The outfielder is trying to salvage a poor season at the plate with a strong showing in September. Osuna is hitting .300 over 60 at-bats this month, bringing his average for the year up to .211 to go with 13 RBI and five stolen bases across 147 at-bats.
Jack Leiter
Jack Leiter Fans 10 in seven excellent innings
Fri, Sep 26, 2025, 9:10 PM
Leiter (10-10) earned the win Friday against the Guardians, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk in seven innings. He struck out 10.
Analysis: In what was his final start of the season, Leiter went out with a bang while matching a season high in strikeouts. It was also the first time he fired seven innings since Aug. 23 against Cleveland. Leiter proved to be an effective starter during his first full year in the major leagues, though he did struggle with walks and was hit hard at times. Despite posting a superb .222 opponent batting average, Leiter managed a more modest 3.86 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 148:67 K:BB across 151.2 frames.
Luis Curvelo
Luis Curvelo Back in majors
Fri, Sep 26, 2025, 6:10 PM
The Rangers recalled Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
Analysis: Curvelo was demoted to Triple-A earlier this month after giving up three runs (two earned) to the Mets without recording an out, but he'll return to the Rangers now that the big club will have to finish the season without Chris Martin (undisclosed) and Cole Winn (undisclosed). Curvelo owns a 5.50 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through 18 MLB innings this year and will likely be limited to middle relief.
Jose Corniell
Jose Corniell Recalled to majors
Fri, Sep 26, 2025, 6:06 PM
The Rangers recalled Corniell from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
Analysis: Corniell will join the big-league squad for the first time in his career Friday to help replenish the Rangers' bullpen depth following the placement of Chris Martin (undisclosed) and Cole Winn (undisclosed) on the IL. Corniell has split time between Double-A and Triple-A this season, posting a 1.67 ERA and 0.71 WHIP across 32.1 innings between the two levels.
